CHFA is committed to assisting residents in project-based Section 8 and low-income housing tax credit properties in Colorado in addressing issues related to their housing. If you are a resident, and you have an issue of concern, the following steps should be taken prior to contacting CHFA:

    1. Report the issue to the on-site personal that you reside in. If this action is not successful, escalate the issue to the owner or management agent that oversees the property. Their contact information should be on the forms that were signed at your move in and also posted on-site, usually in the office or laundry room. This will afford the owner/agent an opportunity to address your concerns and resolve the issue.
    2. Follow any additional guidance that is outlined in the properties grievance procedures. If you do not have a copy of this procedure, it should also be posted at the property, or a copy can be obtained from the on-site personnel.
    3. If this action is not successful in obtaining resolution, please contact CHFA’s Tenant Line at 303.297.7442 to report the incident. Calls will be returned within two business days during regular business hours, which are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Messages left on the weekend or a holiday will be returned on the next business day.
Please note that CHFA does not become involved in the following issues:

    • Disputes with third parties
    • Lawsuits involving resident and owner and/or management agents
    • Eviction matters
    • Interpretations of local laws and ordinances
