The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of the Deputy Secretary announced yesterday a final resolution concerning HUD’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) audit related to certain housing finance agencies’ down payment assistance programs.
memo from HUD Deputy Secretary Nani Coloretti clarifies HUD’s position regarding allegations raised by the OIG in an audit of loans originated by an FHA-approved lender using a down payment assistance program, and affirms the permissibility of down payment assistance programs like CHFA’s. A
statement from Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing and Head of the FHA, Ed Golding, further reiterated this conclusion. These statements reflect HUD’s final resolution of this matter.
