golfers raise $75,000 to benefit saint francis center

CHFA’s David W. Herlinger Golf Tournament raised $75,000 for Saint Francis Center last Tuesday, July 18th. Saint Francis Center is a multiservice organization for people experiencing homelessness in the metro Denver area, providing shelter and services that enable people to meet their basic needs for daily survival and transition out of homelessness.

“With the shortage of affordable housing in Denver, financial support from CHFA’s golf tournament will help fund all the necessary interventions for individuals experiencing homelessness, who are waiting for a place to call home,” said Tom Luehrs, Executive Director of Saint Francis Center.

This is the 14th year CHFA has held a golf tournament with proceeds benefiting a local nonprofit whose work coincides with CHFA’s mission of affordable housing and economic development.

chfa unveils new loan program targeting first-time homebuyers

CHFA recently announced the rollout of a new home mortgage loan program, CHFA FirstStepsm, that targets first-time homebuyers. The program offers a 30-year, fixed rate loan, with a lower interest rate compared to other Federal Housing Administration (FHA) programs. The program is also available to assist qualified veterans, and non-first time buyers in targeted areas.

"Home buyers need options to help them afford homeownership in Colorado's high-priced market. It takes at least $83,400 in gross annual income for a two-person household to afford the current median home price of $330,000. The median gross annual income of a two-person household in Colorado is $62,200, demonstrating a clear gap. We are excited to add CHFA FirstStep to our affordable homeownership programs to help Coloradans achieve housing stability," said Cris White, CHFA Executive Director and CEO.
